The 10 Best GMAT Prep Courses For 2020—According To MBA Insights
Preparing for the GMAT? This ranking of best test prep courses tells you the 10 most likely to improve your score
The Graduate Management Admission Test, or GMAT, is a necessary exam if you’re looking to gain admission to top MBA programs across the world. You need to prepare well to get a top GMAT score. But with so many GMAT prep courses on offer, it’s hard to work out which ones are best.
To help, MBA Insights has ranked the 10 best GMAT prep courses out there, based on a survey of over 1,100 students who were asked to review and rate (from one to five stars) the test prep company they used to study for the GMAT.
Target on top while Kaplan Test Prep performs poorly
Target Test Prep took number one spot because of the course’s overall strong value. Many students find the five-day unlimited access to test prep materials for $1 advantageous. It gives students an idea of what the course has to offer and whether or not it is going to be a good fit.
EMPOWERgmat.com and Manhattan Review took the next two rankings positions because they also provide strong GMAT prep at decent prices. EMPOWERgmat.com offers the highest point improvement guarantee, which many students find comforting, while Manhattan Review’s practice problems are noted as being most similar to the actual GMAT.
Most students learn by practice. Therefore, the more realistic the practice problems, the more likely the student is to score highly on the GMAT.
The well-known Kaplan Test Prep coming at the bottom of the rankings may surprise you. One reason it earned a lower ranking is because of the high prices it charges students to gain access to their full course materials.
With being such a large corporate company, students found the individualized attention to detail and GMAT specialization was not quite as prevalent as it was in other GMAT prep courses. The fact is was reviewed by so many more students than Target, for example, also makes it harder for Kaplan to achieve a top rank.
